Abstract: Evaluating the effectiveness of apprenticeship programs in addressing skills shortages is crucial for aligning vocational training with industry needs. This study investigates how apprenticeship programs contribute to skill development and their impact on reducing skills shortages in various sectors. The objectives are: (1) to assess the skill acquisition and employability of apprentices, (2) to evaluate employer satisfaction with apprenticeship programs, and (3) to identify challenges and best practices in implementing apprenticeships. A survey research design is utilized, justified by the need to gather comprehensive data from apprentices, employers, and educators. The sample size includes 350 participants selected through purposive sampling. The case study focuses on apprenticeship programs in Ogun State, known for their robust vocational training initiatives. Findings indicated that apprenticeship programs significantly enhanced skill acquisition and employability, with high levels of employer satisfaction. However, challenges such as funding constraints, matching apprentices with suitable employers, and ensuring consistent training quality were noted. Recommendations included increasing government and industry funding for apprenticeships, improving the matching process, and standardizing training quality across programs.
